The Island Before Dawn

I didn't take notes even though I did remember some dreams for a change. :/ I will just describe that in one part I was very intent on watching the webcams situated on Mackinac Island's Main Street, and I seemed to be online so long that I could see day and night falling on them. (In real life I visit them only between 1-3 or 4 AM and 9-11 or 11:30 AM.) I was very invested in this and my involvement was such that it was almost like I was actually there on the island at times. There were no worries about going over our hourly Internet usage limit. (We get so many hours a month--they started limiting us without our knowledge a year or so back, under the pretense of "installing new dialup software." >:( )

At some point I got up to go out to use the computer for my 9-11 AM session. I sat down and logged on to look at the Horn's Bar cam and noticed that it was very dim there but I could see dawn approaching, and this surprised me. It was still dark outside but that seemed normal because for some reason at first it's like this was supposed to be my nighttime session, but then I knew I was supposed to be going online at 9 AM. I looked at the clock and it was a little after 7 AM. "Huh," I thought aloud, puzzled over how I had missed that. "I'm going online too early." (In the dream I figured it as an hour too early, though in truth it would have been two hours.) I thought of logging off because I hate changing my session times, then shrugged it off. "I'll just stay online till ten" (remember--I was figuring my time wrong, so I really should have said, until NINE) "and then log off, and find some other things to do just like normal." Maybe since I was going online earlier I would have more time later in the morning to eat some cereal and work on my writing.

I settled myself in and watched the goings-on on Main Street. And it's like the camera now was not still shots every three minutes, but streaming live video, because there was a LOT of pre-dawn activity on Main Street. I don't recall what it was but it involved some men moving about doing things on the street in the near-dark. I think there may have been a road vehicle (cars are not allowed on the island, but they do have a few emergency and utility vehicles that they use especially in the winter--I've seen an SUV and a truck driving up and down the street on the cam, on occasion) or two involved. Maybe they were loading and transporting things, or getting the street ready for when people should arrive (even though I think it was still winter); whatever they were doing, they talked a lot (I could even hear them), and were quite busy, and since it was not even daylight yet I was very intrigued by all this and just sat there watching it. I felt almost like I was being let in on some secret world that nobody else knew about and I felt privileged to have seen it.

Throughout the dream there was the feeling of great passages of time as I viewed the webcams.

There were other parts of the dream(s) I vaguely remembered but I will not bother with them. I do not know how this would connect to real life currently.
