Darkness Falls, & I've Got The Pics

Perhaps I should try to describe what remains of a dream I didn't describe earlier. Which is not much. *sigh* It was similar to a "darkness falling" dream, which is why I wanted to describe it, but I was feeling too blah. It was different, though. Let me explain.

From what I remember, I had gone outside with Dad and a storm was moving in. It also seemed to be nighttime coming on. I specifically remember us standing by the garage looking up at the sky. The wind picked up and whipped around us and I felt anxious. Dad told us we had to go in. We started to go--the sky was turning dark brilliant blue, but with stars, I think--but as we went I noticed some kind of odd sunset or something taking place. The sun was, as usual, high in the air, almost in a noontime position, and seemed to be more easterly because later on I seemed to be facing that direction when taking pics. It was above the woods to the southeast of our house. A white ball, in a blue sky. As we hurried inside--Dad was really rushing me--I went in and then promptly walked to the table to get the digital camera. I turned and promptly walked back out the door! I'm sure Dad was looking at me; I said, "I want to get some pictures," and headed back outside into the coming storm!

Yes...that's it. I think it was a storm, not exactly a sunset. Though it may have been that too. The thing is I get the feeling of lightness coming on, not darkness, even though it was getting darker. The horizons themselves seemed lighter, though the sun was high up. Perhaps it was a sunRISE, and a storm was obscuring it for now?

Anyway...I stepped back outside into the wind. I felt it was going to rain and I had to hurry. I didn't want to miss what was going on with the sun (it looked more like the moon), because there were clouds forming a tall column around it. Just this white ball in the midst of blue, with blue clouds forming all around it and a brilliant glow emerging way up in the sky. I was fortunate in that it was still there when I got outside! I stopped and started trying to take pictures. Like I said I seemed to be facing east, but the order was all wrong and it felt like west, too.

Now my BROTHER, Eric, was with me...which is very strange. He stood off to my left and I tried to take a picture, framing up the shot, but my hands were shaking very badly. I kept trying to steady myself, and took a shot, but I felt it would be too blurry. Why couldn't I stop shaking? I needed a tripod. Finally I think I crouched down on the ground to use my elbows as a tripod, explaining to Eric what I was doing. There were trees around me; the ground was moist and loamy. I think then I managed to get at least one or two good shots; I even saw them on the preview screen. There was a final, possibly unrelated section of the dream that had something to do with my character Detective Reichert, in my bedroom, but it was very vague. That's all I remember.

What is so odd about this dream compared to my others? Number one, the fact that Dad was with me and actively helped me into the house; usually in "darkness falling" dreams I end up on my own. Number two, the determination I showed in heading back outside--I usually waffle and waste my time out of anxiety in these dreams, as the darkness frightens me so much. In fact I usually don't make it back to the house at all! Number three, the mere fact that I DID go back outside--on my own, no less! This is the first time I can think of that happening! (Though I did have one dream once when I STAYED outside--see "Beyond Darkness Falling.") Number four, my brother being with me while I was taking pictures--he's NEVER in these dreams. Well, except for the one where we stood out on the porch while the wind picked up--see "Storm Warning"--and even that wasn't EXACTLY a "darkness falling" dream...why was HE even in this one and where did he come from? Number five, my odd shakiness, when I wasn't even terrified, to my knowledge. Number six, the fact that I was able to get decent pictures!--usually in my "sunset pictures" dreams, I try and fail repeatedly to get a decent shot. And lastly, the CLARITY of the dream is odd in itself. I could feel the wind, could feel the shakiness in my hands, could almost feel the damp soil, could distinctly see and remember the sunset and clouds, and could even see the same view on my preview screen. It seemed very realistic, considering I can't remember most of it by now.

Very odd.
