Save The Cave!

I had this a few days ago so what I did remember, as little as it was, is even vaguer.

What I do know is that I was on Mackinac Island with my brother, and perhaps with his wife and/or my mom. We were walking along the lakeshore near Devil's Kitchen and the lighting was just all weird and wrong. Like a storm was coming. I feel it was around midday, but everything had this kind of hazy, overcast, yellowish-orangish tint to it. Very strange and unnerving, though I didn't seem to notice it in the dream. I wanted to show Eric (my brother) Devil's Kitchen even though he's seen it. In case you don't know what that is, it's a cave on the lakeshore; according to legend, cannibal giants used to roast people there. Anyway we were walking until we came to where it was supposed to be, and...it's like it was blocked off. FILLED IN. Not just the cave, but that whole section of the road and lakeshore before it!

This is hard to explain. It's like we were walking much higher up than we were supposed to be, even though we were in the right spot. That whole part of road, from the bottom up to the top of the cave, had been sort of filled in with earth and blocked off with a short wooden fence at the top. I think there may have been orange tape as well. It's like the cave was still there, but it was blocked off from the shore, and I'd have to get over the fence and jump way down to get to it, and even then it would be a tight fit. The filled-in section didn't look new or out of place; in fact it had grass and such on it like a normal dirt road or something. Just this big blocking embankment where one hadn't been before.

I stopped after we had looked around for the cave for a while, and finally noticed, THERE it was, blocked off. This REALLY peeved me. The impression I got was that they were going to block off and fill in this whole section of the road for their own purposes, and that was very upsetting! Devil's Kitchen is a landmark! It's in the guidebook! How could they do this to it? I LOVED that cave!

My brother (and the others?) stood further down on the road behind me as I stood up on the embankment throwing a fit. I was going to find somebody in charge and complain about this. What a STUPID decision. What would they do next, bulldoze the Mackinac Bridge??
